Art still plays an important role, however, with stark black-and-white photos by German visual artist Ralph Baiker hanging from the walls. Even in the spa, which features an indoor heated pool, edgy lamps and glass partitions blur the lines between form and function. At The Met Hotel, which sits in the center of Thessaloniki's happening new harbor area, hospitality and contemporary art really do exist side by side. Built from high-end materials on a flourishing stretch of Thessaloniki's urban coastline, The Met is a decadent cross between luxury hotel and world-class art gallery.
