The MET HOTEL is a Tourist hotel. Located in THESSALONIKI area. Shopping is accessible by bus/taxi and the nightlife/restaurants are easily accessible by taxi or bus from the hotel.
The ancient coastal city of Thessaloniki is speckled with fascinating art galleries, but just one of them, The Met Hotel, doubles as an extravagant luxury hotel. Wandering through its roomy, avant-garde hallways, it's hard to believe people are actually allowed to sleep here. On the piano-black walls, there are bold shots by famous fine-art photographers like Andreas Gursky and Thomas Struth. And in the broad public spaces between the lobby and the spa, you'll find sculptures and video works by some of the world's most revered contemporary artists. Of course it's not down here, but upstairs, in the 212 seductively simple rooms and suites, that guests really lay their heads. By decking the floors in dark tropical timber, and allowing sea views to flood in through huge glazed panes, the designer has managed to soften and smooth the overwhelmingly sharp contours of the furniture. Art still plays an important role, however, with stark black-and-white photos by German visual artist Ralph Baiker hanging from the walls. Even in the spa, which features an indoor heated pool, edgy lamps and glass partitions blur the lines between form and function. At The Met Hotel, which sits in the center of Thessaloniki's happening new harbor area, hospitality and contemporary art really do exist side by side. Built from high-end materials on a flourishing stretch of Thessaloniki's urban coastline, The Met is a decadent cross between luxury hotel and world-class art gallery.
