It nestles by a small, idyllic lake with a majestic view of the Untersberg mountain. Since the 18th century, Schloss Leopoldskron (Leopoldskron palace) has been a private venue for contacts, inspiration and a source of power. The palace is not only the birthplace of the Salzburg Festival, but is also the original film location of “The Sound of Music”. It has been privately owned since 1947 by the "American educational institution Salzburg Global Seminar", which has been addressing global issues for more than half a century. It is now open for special events and seminars and also available as an exclusive private accommodation.
Only a few minutes' walk from the Old Town of Salzburg lies the historic and artistically well preserved palace of Leopoldskron, sheltered like a genuine pearl in its shell.
