Located close to the boundary of Kakadu National Park on the vast Swim Creek Station on the Mary River flood plains, Bamurru Plains is about 2.5 hours by road from Darwin or just 20 minutes by air. These wetlands provide some of Australia’s best wildlife experiences with an extraordinary diversity and volume of birdlife, reptiles and wildlife on offer. They also host one of the largest crocodile populations in the Northern Territory while the fringing savannah bush is home to thousands of wallabies, dingoes and other mammals. The stone country of Arnhem Land and Kakadu is a short distance away providing an insight into the region’s Aboriginal heritage, which remains among the strongest in Australia. The lodge is built with a Wild Bush Luxury theme in mind; accommodation will be ‘rustic chic’ in style offering guests the chance to absorb the sights and sounds of the wetlands around them. Each of the 9 safari suites are built among the fringing pandanus and savannah bush with balconies affording privacy as well as sweeping views across the wetlands. Reflecting the camp’s distinctive personality, the rooms are fitted with safari chairs along with quality bedding, linen and towels, ensuite bathrooms.
